I'm pleased to report that the laptop is now fixed and up and running again. The norton ghost image saves a massive amount of time when it comes to getting back up and running. I can have a fully operational computer complete with firefox/thunderbird/antivirus/firewall and all the drivers installed and everything configured properly in the time it would normally take to install windows, let alone putting all the drivers on and getting all the software put on. Obviously the more software you have on the starting image, the longer it will take to get it all back on the hard drive, but in terms of time saved, its just pure bliss.
Its worth noting though that no matter how complete you think the image is, you will always find something that you have forgot to put on. But with broadband and internet speeds at what they are today, thats usually not a problem as you can download the offending piece of software in no time.
So today's tip for the day is, when you have time and on the next format, might be a nice idea to create an image for future use.
No real other news to report as everything is chuntering along at its usual pace, without any hitches or problems. Did have a slight rant at work however, but i don't think it will have any more effect than if i stood in the middle of the office and whistled the national anthem.
Never mind though, we shall see, they might suprise me..
